Side hustles are a great way to earn extra money in addition to your full-time job. We recently wrote about Our Top Side Hustles That Helped Us Get Debt Free. While not everyone will have the same interests as our family, we have created a list of top side hustles that may include your interests. We also firmly believe that any extra money from your side hustle should be applied to your debt instead of bringing in more material things. Read more about our minimalist lifestyle. 2. Cashier or bagger at a grocery store.
3. Mystery shopper.
4. House or business cleaning person/school janitor (our son’s school is always looking for a part-time custodian).
5. Dog bather/groomer. (May require licensing)
6. Newspaper carrier.
7. Barber. (May require licensing)
8. Manicurist. (May require licensing)

12. Dog walker.
13. Pet sitter.
14. Housesitter.
15. Yoga Instructor. (May require certification).
16. House flipper. (Requires construction/contractor knowledge and large amounts of cash for down payments).
17. Virtual assistant. I have done this job personally. It’s nice to have hours from home.
18. Sample person at large retailers. I have also done this job several times. You must be able to stand for at least a few hours.
19. Mystery shopper. I have done this as well in the past, and really enjoyed it.
20. Bouncer. My brother-in-law does this every weekend.
21. Auto parts store counter person. My brother-in-law does this in addition to his full-time job and his part-time job as a bouncer at a local bar.
22. Coffee shop barista.
23. Lawncare/landscaper. I have seen this turn into a full-blown business for several people in my local area.
24. Personal shopper. Since we don’t live in a city/wealthy area, this is not as easy to do where we live, but I know this can be lucrative in a metropolitan area.
25. Nanny. As long as you’re not working for Ben Afleck. 😉
26. Freelance writer. I’ve seen several friends get picked up by the Huffington Post and other media outlets as freelance writers.
27. Tramponline park attendant. We have a local Sky Zone, and I think that would be a super fun side gig!
28. Personal Chef. My friend Heather has been doing this for years. She even went for a chef certification and now she does this for families and events in our area.
29. Dog Pooper Scooper. While smelly this could be super lucrative for the elderly and handicap. Many people have a pet that provides much companionship, but they just can’t handle certain physical aspects such as cleaning up…. well, you know – especially in winter months where it may be slippy and dangerous.
30. Private music lesson teacher. I have at least three friends in my area that teach vocal, piano, and drum lessons. This is one way to turn your talent into some extra cash!
31. Tutoring. As a teacher with a Masters Degree, I tutored for many, many years until I started blogging. I still see blogging as the best option for my family since tutoring meant more time away from my kids.
32. Direct sales company. This way you are more in charge of your own schedule. We have utilized Young Living essential oils to not only become more healthy, but we have also developed the business side of this hobby into an income producer for our family.
33. Amazon seller. I highly recommend the ebook Amazon FBA Startup Guide: How to Use Amazon FBA to Work from Home in an Easy and Effective Manner (Retirement & Financial Freedom).
34. Etsy. This has produced so much side income for a friend of mine who loves to craft!
35. eBay Seller.
36. Band member. I have done this one as well. I loved using my voice to sing as a way to earn extra money.
37. Organic egg farmer. My father-in-law has chickens that he raises (free-range and feeds organically) and sells the eggs for profit. These are the best eggs I have ever tasted. He makes a profit after purchasing the chickens, feed, etc. He did have the initial expense of building a coop, and buying the chickens and feed.
38. Baker. There are several ladies in my area that bake cakes and other items for parties, weddings, etc. in addition to their full-time jobs.
39. Photographer. We just started a photography business this summer. We also use it to give gifts to family members and they love it.
40. Easter Bunny/Santa Clause. While these are seasonal, they are great extra side hustles during the holiday season.
41. Jewelry maker. While I give the jewelry I made as gifts, I have seen this become a lovely side business for some ladies with extraordinary talent.
42. Antique dealer. We have a local antique mall where small business owners can pay to put up a stand. If you have a really good eye for antiques and like to shop estate sales, this could be a lucrative business.
43. Handyman. Are you good at fixing things? This may be the extra side hustle for you! I have absolutely no mechanical ability, so I would not do well in this hustle.
44. Personal trainer (certification may be required).
45. Massage therapist (certification may be required).
46. Car detailer.
47. Telemarketer.
48. Sell stock photography. Hubby and I are just starting to look into this since we recently started our photography business.
49. Auctioneer. May require some schooling. However, this is definitely part-time and would be super fun.
50. Painter. I paid my aunt to paint our bathroom two years ago because I simply hate to paint. It was totally worth the money to me.
51. Sperm/Egg Donor. Our son was born via IVF and our clinic has a donor program. This is such a need for couples who can’t use their own egg/sperm and can be very, very lucrative. Plus, your helping provide a miracle to a family that is hurting.
52. Surrogate. While this requires some psychological testing and can be very hard on the body, again, you’re providing a miracle to a family.
53. Private Detective. My dad has been one for 20+ years and he still loves it.
