#1 Tip: Keep on hand in case of a grease fire! Throw handfuls onto fire (and of course, call 911 and use your fire extinguisher!)
CLEANING
- Silver polish– Use three parts baking soda andone part water. Rub onto silver with a clean cloth, rinse, and dry.
- Use as a soft-scrub by applying to surfaces and wiping clean with a sponge.

- Clean the commode with 1/4C baking soda. Just sprinkle and scrub.
- Oven Cleaner- Apply a 1/8 inch layer to bottom of oven. Spray with water to make a damp paste. Let this set for about 2 hours, then come back and wipe off with a sponge, cloth, or brush if necessary.
- Sprinkle in sink and use a scrub brush to remove dirt & grime.
COOKING
- Baking soda is used in countless everyday recipes! Just keep some on hand for recipes versus cleaning purposes.
- Sprinkle 1 Tsp. into a large bowl of water to use as a fruit rinse.
KIDS
- Make play clay
- Dissolve a small amount in the bathtub to help with diaper rash.
LAUNDRY
- DIY Laundry Detergent- Check out our recipe!
- Sprinkle Baking Soda over dirty laundry to help with odors until the next laundry cycle.
- Add 1/2 C to wash cycle to help boost brightness (check with washer manufacturer first).
ODORS
- Odors- Remove odors from your refrigerator by placing a box of opened Baking Soda in the back. This should be changed every 2-3 months.
- Sprinkle on the bottom of the dishwasher to remove odors in between washing.
- Each time you replace the box in your refrigerator, pour the old box down the drain with running water to deodorize your drains.
- Sprinkle in the bottom of your trash can to deodorize. You can eventually add water to wash out bottom of trash can.
- Sprinkle into your vacuum cleaner bag to deodorize. Add a fabric softener sheet too and you will deodorize and get a fresh, clean smell!
- Sprinkle into fresh cat litter to deodorize.
- Mix 1 tsp. with hand soap to remove odors like fish, onions, etc., on hands.
- Sprinkle in shoes to keep foot odor at bay.
PERSONAL CARE
- Toothpaste– Some people use baking soda as toothpaste, and add 3% hydrogen peroxide. Please note that you should never swallow this toothpaste, and it does not contain flouride.
- Antacid- Follow the instructions on the box to use as an antacid.
- Shampoo Additive– Add a small amount of baking soda to your shampoo to remove residue.

- Sprinkle 1/4 C in your bathwater to leave skin silky smooth!
- Dissolve 3 Tbs. into a basin of warm water to use as a foot soak.
- Make a paste to put on insect bites and burns.
- Put on your body like powder to help with itchy skin.
PETS
- Use it as a pet toothpaste. You can add a little bit of chicken bouillon to add flavor for your pet and turn it into a paste (optional).
