Beauty and the Beast (1991) is one of my top favorite animated Disney movies. [Click here to reminice with me “Bring Home Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition]. I know ALL of the songs by heart, and dreamed of my fantasy library someday… NOW, we all get to return to that fairy tale in the Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation! I am so excited to share the brand new TRAILER and images of the studio’s animated classic BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! The film, which brings the story and characters audiences know and love to life in a stunning, cinematic event, is directed by Bill Condon and features an extraordinary ensemble cast which includes Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson.
How magically delightful does this moving painting look??!!! The all-star cast, lead by one of my favorite Gryffindor’s Emma Watson, is sure to delight original and new audiences the world around. This collection of talent will be just a joy to watch:
- Emma Watson/Belle Hermione/”Harry Potter” series, “This is the End”, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”
- Dan Stevens/Beast Matthew Crawley/”Downton Abby” BBC series
- Luke Evans/Gaston Bard, Girion/”The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”
- Kevin Kline/Maurice I could write a thesis on the talent that is Kevin Kline… the first time I was introduced to him on screen as the Pirate King/”Pirates of Penzance, to EVERYTHING he has touched since… I will watch anything that this man creates… “The Big Chill”, “Silverado”, “Cry Freedom”, “A FISH CALLED WANDA”, “The January Man”, “Soapdish”, “Chaplin”!!, “Dave”, voice of Phoebus/”The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, “The Ice Storm”, “In & Out”, “The Road to El Dorado” and the list continues…. I simply adore this man, and personally own most of his movies.
- Josh Gad/Le Fou who else would be Le Fou, then OLAF from “Frozen”? Josh’s musical and comedy chops will be fun to watch.
- Ewan McGregor/Lumiere I adore Ewan McGregor, ever since I first noticed him in the drama/fantasy/mind-trip know as “Trainspotting” (1996). He has an interesting range of ability and talent as well as the rest of this incredibly versatile cast. Ewan is just as convincing as a romantic partner “The Pillow Book”, “Velvet Goldmine”, “A Life Less Ordinary”; or as Obi-Wan Kenobi/”Star Wars: Episode 1-3″; or romantic dramady musical “Moulin Rouge”; or any genre of his choice. You will enjoy any of his projects.
- Stanley Tucci/Cadenza Stanley Tucci is on par with the rest of this phenomenal cast. Tucci is a master thespian with a wide range of talent. He brings a special spice to all of his roles. I cannot just name one… You can love him, or hate him, or cry for him. The first time I knew he was special, was back in 1998, in the slapstick comedy “The Imposters”. I have been following his career ever since.
- Gugu Mbatha-Raw/Plumette Gugu has cut her teeth on several interesting projects: “MI-5” (tv series), “Doctor Who” (tv series), “Black Mirror” (tv series); starring in “Belle” (2013). She is perfect casting as ‘Plumette’. She will bring the right spice to the role.
- Audra McDonald/Garderobe Audra is a solid actress and will bring her own chutzpah to this extraordinary cast
- Ian McKellen/Cogsworth Ian McKellen is one of our current original thespians from the stage of Shakespeare. His dynamic roles go far beyond our recent sightings as Gandalf and Magneto. For a true study in theater and the arts, follow Sir McKellen’s career.
- Emma Thompson/Mrs. Potts Emma Thompson… There are few other actresses who can hold their own in this company of talent. I am a huge fan, and will watch anything she touches, from “Nanny McPhee” to “The Remains of the Day” to “Sense and Sensibility” to “Love Actually”, and her unforgettable performance in “Wit”.
