Our local libraries run wonderful and free programs throughout the year. That is my daughter holding that major spider in the top photo! As a homeschool mom I really love this program and feel that the kids learned so much from his presentation.
Each week, in the summer, we have met authors, magicians and jugglers. Last week, we met a local Bug Guy.
He was very educational, and introduced us to all the different types of insects: largest grasshopper, beautiful butterflies, lanky walking sticks, just to name a few. We were also treated to tarantulas and other exotic spiders from around the world.
I particularly enjoyed all his examples and explanations of detecting good vs. bad insects, camouflage, and other fascinating details about each member of his collection.
If your local libraries do not offer decent family programs, feel free to comment below and I can post some links to schedules as examples for you to take to your libraries.
