When looking for a good deal, many times shoppers think they’re getting a GREAT price on something, when in reality, they might actually be paying MORE! We want to help you make sure that you’re getting the BEST possible price on things you’re buying! A Price Book is one way to actually keep track of sizes of items and their prices at different stores. For example, the price of toilet paper might be less at Store A, but the square footage might be much smaller. This means that you are not comparing apples to apples (or tomatoes to tomatoes based on our picture! 🙂
We have created a sheet for you to use in your price book that can be printed directly from your computer (DFS Price Book) but you can also use a regular lined notebook (Which is what I used for about a year until I knew most prices without looking!). You will find over time that you will know the normal sizes of items you buy and the best price for those items, but you really have to start somewhere to make sure your comparing the same sizes of items. Plus, when you shop at more than one store, it’s nice to have your price book hands so you can look up prices from other stores quickly.
This also helps when trying to compare BOGO sales and other types of discounts. For example, the grocery store might have Bounty on a BOGO sale, but if you’re getting much less square footage, you might get a better deal using coupons and ECB’s or RR’s at a local Drugstore! As you begin your price book, please let us know if you need any help!
