Am I the only person who gets totally annoyed by food storage containers that are stacked and fall over? We have some great solutions for you to make storing food less stressful! First, let me welcome you to our 35 Days to an Organized Home Challenge. Check out all of our organizing posts for each day! So back to business! When looking for the best way to store food storage containers, we firmly believe this needs to be in a pull-out drawer, or at least in some sort of tote where the mess can be contained! Check out our video below to show you our own pull out drawer!
Tips for Organizing Food Storage Containers:
1. Sort and stack similar containers. Keep all similar lids and stackable containers together. Whether you’re using a pull-out drawer, or putting them in a cabinet, we suggest using some sort of plastic or canvas tote to prevent containers from falling over.
2. Discard pieces that you don’t need, but make sure you have containers of varying sizes.
3. Nest and stack containers in tote or drawer by size.
4. Organize lids together (as shown in video). DO NOT store lids attached to bottoms, because this is a huge waste of space. Most storage containers are made to nest inside of each other.
5. If your cabinet is big enough for a drying rack, lids can be neatly stacked in an upright position.
6. If you have to store your food storage containers in a cabinet with a tote, where they have to stand alone, stack the lids together between the bottoms and the wall of the cabinet. Try to nest them together as much as possible, and they will still keep from falling over. ANOTHER option is to stack the lids and store them UNDER the bottoms. This will also prevent knocking containers over all the time! (as shown below)
