7 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR PURSE ORGANIZED
Use Makeup Bags: Small makeup bags are perfect for organizing everything from your favorite lip glosses to a small first aid kit. Using different small multi-colored makeup bags or clear makeup bags is a great and easy way to keep like things together in your purse for easy access. You can even have a bag for kids toys or a spare diaper with wipes for those emergencies with the little ones.
Use Pockets & Compartments: They didn’t put those pockets and compartments in your purse just to look pretty. Put them to use! Use exterior pockets for things like mints, gum, hand sanitizer and loose change. Use the interior pockets for that first aid kit, feminine hygiene products or those gift cards you keep saying you’ll use but always forget.
Clean Out Daily: Take a moment when you come home each day to clean out trash, empty or broken items like hand sanitizer or lotion, and restock as needed. This is also a great time to grab any receipts and put them in your desk for future accounting purposes.
Don’t Use It As A Trashcan: We all get into the habit of tossing the gum wrappers, grocery lists and other little bits of trash into our purses. Opt for looking for a close trash can, or keeping a small bag in your purse for that purpose so it is easy to clean out. Nobody likes finding sticky gum stuck to their favorite lipstick because one of the kids handed over a loosely wrapped used piece of candy.
Upgrade Your Wallet: There are so many options out there for wallets now, there is no need to have one that isn’t functional. For some this means keeping a small flip wallet with the basics like credit card, debit card, drivers license and frequently used rewards cards separate from the checkbook and other money or change. Shop around and find a wallet or multiple wallets that will fit in your purse and suit all of your needs.
Use Dual Purpose Items: Instead of taking the whole makeup drawer in your purse each day, start thinking dual purpose. You may regularly use a loose powder, but a compact is a great option with its built in mirror. Opt for a simple small tube of lip gloss over the lip liner and lipstick you normally wear. Remember what you put into your purse is meant to be used on occasion or in emergency, so plan accordingly. Hand sanitizing wipes are better than gels since they can also wipe off messy faces, a counter top or even the grocery cart handle.
Limit What You Pack: Above all, this may be the most important thing to consider in keeping your purse organized. While moms everywhere will tell you that being prepared is better than going without a needed item, you have to consider that you aren’t able to lug around a suitcase every day all day just because you might need a spare set of clothing. Limit what you try to fit into your purse to truly the basic necessities. Pack a spare set of clothes for the kids in your vehicle for that potential emergency. Keep a car emergency kit packed as well, but leave your purse as a place to store your wallet, a small first aid kit and any daily use items like hand lotion, lip gloss or feminine hygiene products.
These ways to keep your purse organized are simple to implement and sure to save you both time and money. By staying on top of what you put into your purse, cleaning it regularly and packing it in an organized fashion you’ll find yourself feeling lightweight and organized every day. Whether you carry a large tote, cross body bag or a small handbag, you can put these tips into motion today.
