We recently posted about Macey’s Big Adventure, and her trip to PetSmart for Purina ProPlan Bright Mind dog food. She definitely loved the chance to get out and see the other animals!
Macey has always been my special girl. Out of our three dogs, she is the most protective and mothering. She is my shadow, and anytime I need some companionship she is right there for me. After recently switching her food to Purina ProPlan Bright Mind from PetSmart she has been showing us how smart she is even in her senior doggie years. Purina ProPlan Bright Mind is specially formulated to increase cognitive awareness in adult (age 7+) dogs. Did you know that a dog is considered a senior after the age of seven?
Macey’s day starts fairly early since she is the eldest of our three dogs. They all get up together, eat their breakfast, then go outside all before six a.m.!
While she does spend time in the kennel for part of the day, my father-in-law comes in and takes them outside to play every day at lunch. She is definitely Pappy’s girl, and has been showing more signs of wanting to take the lead in chasing the long-distance run for the ball.
Owners who feed their senior dogs Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind as a daily diet may notice differences in owner-dog interaction, interest in play and the ability to adapt and cope with change. We definitely saw results within 30 days. She was more eager to play and less stressed when we went away. As you can see she also still has “get up and go” and loves to beat the other two dogs to the ball.
When she isn’t busy chasing the ball or dealing with her Miley or Jasper, she loves to rest at my feet while I’m blogging.
In the evening the baby likes to go out and swing on his playset, and we will throw the ball some more for the dogs to get them some exercise. While she is so much better at listening than the other two dogs with commands, she is definitely the most stubborn about coming inside. Sometimes we call and call for her, and eventually she decides when she wants to come indoors.
According to experts at Purina Pro Plan, around age seven, the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain begins to change, which can affect memory, learning, awareness or decision making. Purina Pro Plan discovered a way to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs 7+ through nutrition and has introduced BRIGHT MIND Adult 7+ formulas. We definitely noticed that Macey was more aware of what was going on around her, and while she has always been the sharpest out of our three dogs, she showed even more mental clarity after switching foods. We want to keep her mind going strong as long as possible!
