This month, a new kids show was added to the Disney XD Wednesday night prime-time lineup. WALK THE PRANK is a real hidden-camera tv show where innocent people are set up by their friends or family, and tricked with a prank. Each Wednesday night at 8:30/7:30c, this innovative new show blends scripted comedy with real pranks.
Playing jokes and pranks on friends and family is something many of us enjoy. Sometimes those jokes are as simple as putting drops of ketchup your arm and screaming for help. But what would you think could happen with a group of creative minds and the opportunity to stage a live practical joke in public?
We took an exclusive, behind the scenes look at this show and learned how it all comes together in our Q&A sessions with some of the cast.
The series stars the natural comedic talent and improvisational skills of new young stars including:
- Cody Veith (“Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn”) as the cool, confident Chance
- Bryce Gheisar (“A Dog’s Purpose”) as Chance’s younger brother Herman
- Jillian Shea Spaeder (“Theatre and Me’s the Bully”) as the tech-savvy Bailey
- Brandon Severs (“The Neighbors”) as Chance’s best friend Dusty
- Tobie Windham (“The Wesley’s”) as Will, Dusty’s uncle
The scripted story lines focus on the four kids’ antics in school and at home, which also provides a source of inspiration for their pranks. Often, they use ideas from their real life in the show!
Tobie Windham brings his stage-acting experience to the series and is always around when the pranks occur, ”Because it’s real, you never know what someone is going to react like. I have a thing that I do now. As soon as we finish the pranks, I always kind of do like a high five just to make sure like ‘hey, this is a joke. You have a friend that set you up, this is all in fun.’ That’s my barometer, if they give me high five, it’s like okay, they’re good!”
My family is pretty sensitive about excessive pranks, so knowing that someone is keeping everything ‘in check’ is reassuring. You can see more in “Exclusive Look at Disney XD’s New Show: Walk Prank“.
Another comforting aspect of the show is the ‘family feel’ among the cast and crew. The children attend school on set with two teachers. Mothers of the children (and a grandma) were also on set while we were there. The actors are very comfortable and sibling-like, that you can feel the tight knit camaraderie all throughout. Everyone’s genuinely heartfelt nature, flows into the activities, so as scary as some of the pranks seem – they always end up bringing a smile to everyone involved. Even the ‘victim’ finds the situation hilarious!
How would you react to some of these pranks?

The Pig Man would have freaked me out. What kind of prank would you be ok with?
I think I could enjoy being pranked about something game-like. For example, we would be playing one of our online games and my character would suddenly start acting on its own – without my commands!
That would be funny.
I look forward to your comments and thoughts on this show.
