Making your own body wash can be such a fun experience! Using essential oils gives you the freedom to create awesome scents, without allowing harmful chemicals into your body. Today we will focus on a great way to make men’s body washes, and give you three different scent ideas as well! Husband approved!
What you will need:
Organic Shampoo/Body Wash Base from Bulk Apothecary
Young Living Essential Oils
Bottles – we used the 8 oz bottles
To make your own body wash, simply pour an overflowing cup (for an 8 oz bottle) of the body wash base into a medium sized bowl. Next, you will need to add your oils. We’ve included three different scent blends below that we live, or you can make your own! A great rule of thumb is to stick to about 12 – 14 drops of oil per 8 oz bottle. Gentle whisk the body wash base and the oils together until you feel they have blended well. The body wash will become a bit cloudy, and that’s totally normal. Depending on the type of oil you use, your body wash will also take on a certain color as well. Orange oil will give it an orange color, so on and so forth. Once it’s all mixed, place the small funnel into the mouth of the bottle you plan to store your body wash in. Pour it in, keeping a careful eye that it doesn’t overfill your bottle (this can happen easily!) and then seal!
These are the variations you can make:
Cedar & Citrus:
6 drops of Orange
4 Drops of Cedarwood
Evergreen:
12 drops of Evergreen Essence
Thieves (my husband’s favorite):
13 drops of Thieves
I have been making and storing this in plastic bottles for years, and have not had any issues with the oils breaking down the plastics in the bottle. I think they are diluted well enough that it isn’t a problem you need to worry about.
Enjoy making your own Men’s Body Wash, and coming up with your own scent blends as well! The possibilities are endless, and are chemical free!
