Recently we were given the opportunity to review a Yonanas 902 Ice Cream Treat Maker at home. My mom had gastric bypass two years ago, and is always looking for ways to get potassium in her diet, and bananas are a GREAT source of Potassium! So, we were thrilled to get to review this product!!! You might be wondering what a Yonanas is (or does)! It is a frozen treat maker that uses frozen bananas as the base of any frozen treat. Basically, it turns any frozen fruit into ice cream consistency! It is amazing!
To start this process, we peeled several bananas and froze them. Then, right before we made our treat, we let them thaw just slightly. We decided to make our Yonanas with bananas, and then frozen blueberries. The machine comes with several other recipes, but we LOVE bananas, so this was fine with us! We started by inserting our frozen bananas.
Next, we added our frozen blueberries.
As you can see, it comes out with the consistency of custard, just a little thicker!
As you can see, it turns into an amazing, healthy snack for the entire family!!! I’m so excited that we can literally have a frozen, custard like dessert made with ONLY real fruit. We didn’t add ANY sugar to this, and it was still delicious!!! These are going to become VERY popular for fruit-lovers everywhere! The Yonanas 902 Ice Cream Treat Maker is on sale at Amazon right now for $48.99! These were $60 at our local Sears during the Christmas season, so this is a GREAT price!
Below you can see some different angle shots of the Yonans Model, it is a sleek design, and fits well into our kitchen decor. We actually use it almost everyday!!!
There are definitely some tips that make the process smoother. First, we learned that you DON’T PUSH on the plunger! This makes the process rough, and the custard does not turn out as good!
Also, Yonanas has the following tip about their product:
- Freezers are different and this will dictate whether or not you will run frozen fruit immediately through the yonanas maker, or need to thaw a few minutes. If storing fruit in a cooler with ice or dry ice, you will also need to take into consideration how cold the fruit is. If it is too thawed, the product is not as ice-cream like.
- Insert frozen fruit into the chute and push thefruit down using the plunger. (we recommend that you break bananas in half before running through machine) Alternate between bananas and additional fruit when pushing fruit through the chute to help blend the yonanas together.
*While we were given this Yonanas maker free of to review, these are our true and honest opinions. 🙂
