We’re starting something new here at Debt Free Spending that I am really excited about and I hope you will be too! Every time I clean out my expired coupons it hurts my heart to have to throw them away, it’s like throwing away money (surely I’m not the only one who feels this way). Now we no longer have to toss those expired coupons in the trash. We are calling this FAMILIES IN ARMS!
We have adopted an Army Base in Vicenza, Italy. Let me explain to you how this works. Military posts OCONUS (Outside of the Continental United States) are allowed to use EXPIRED coupons for a few months after their expiration date. They can ONLY use MANUFACTURER COUPONS (obviously they don’t have Target, Publix, or anything else). All you need to do is gather up your expired coupons (Please only those that are NOT over 30 days expired) and stick them in an envelope to send them to me so that I can get them sorted and sent off. Honestly, it’ll take you just a few minutes of time and a stamp to send them my way.
If you are wondering if there is more you can do the answer is YES. If you want to help pay for shipping I would be forever grateful as I will be mailing shipments AT LEAST once a month. For those who are willing to help by donating payments that will be happening through PayPal. Here are the steps to follow:
1) Login to PayPal
2) Select SEND MONEY
3) Enter my email address: jen@debtfreespending.com and the amount you wish to donate
4) Click PERSONAL
5) Choose this money is being sent as a Gift
6) Click Continue – This will take you to a Payment Review Page
7) Once you are sure all the information on the Payment Review Page is accurate hit “Send Money”
Things to remember:
- No donation is TOO small!
- I would recommend only mailing them to me once a month as it will be easier on everybody that way, but if you want to mail them more often that’s fine too.
- PLEASE make sure you have enough postage or they’ll end up back in your mailbox.
- If you are an organized individual and wish to separate the coupons for me they go into TWO categories:
- FOOD – Things that are eaten by humans for calories. This would include mints or gum, but not food for our furry friends.
- NON-FOOD – This is where the food for furry friends would go and everything else too.
Please mail your expired coupons to:

As an Army wife I am very excited for us to start doing this to help other Army families! Thank you in advance for your support!

Do supplements and medicines go with non-food? Items like the Pedialyte drinks and fiber chewables are throwing me off!
jen
(Jen) Malinda this is a great question. They qualify food as anything that can be consumed by humans to provide calories. Since they include gum in that category I am going to say put them both with food. I know our commisary here carries Pedialyte and Ensure was on the list of food items and I consider that a supplement. I hope this helps!
