I have become an expert of sorts for making home made “Fru Fru” drinks as we like to call them! I LOVE Starbucks frozen drinks AND any kind of frozen smoothie. So, tonight we’re featuring my recipe for my favorite Peach Smoothie! Also, this is a GREAT way to save money! Making these drinks at home will save you a phenomenal amount of money compared to Starbucks (or Fruit Smoothie) prices!
I start any fruit smoothie with fresh fruit. You can substitute frozen fruit, but in season fruit makes the smoothie taste MUCH better! In the winter when fresher fruit is hard to find, I use bananas. You can use as much fruit as you want, and the more fruit you use, the thicker the smoothie.
Since I do not drink milk, I use about 1 Cup of Silk Almond Milk, and about 2-3 Tablespoons of whatever creamer I have on hand. I have to admit, the Bailey’s Irish Cream is the BEST!!! Then, I add some Splenda to taste. Finally, I throw in 3-4 traditional sized (you know, in the tray;) ice cubes. I LOVE my glass blender – if you make a lot of these types of drinks, it pays to splurge!
Then, I blend at the highest speed for about 20-30 seconds. This can vary some, but in the end, if you have too many ice cubes in the bottom, keep going! LOL Garnish with whipped cream and a strawberry, and voila! You have a beautiful fruit smoothie! I’m including a few links to some nicer blenders that are made for this type of drink.
