I was SO EXCITED to find out that I was getting a chance to review AND giveaway a copy of The Secret World of Arrietty!!! (Scroll to the bottom of the post to enter via the Rafflecopter, but watch the sneak peek clip while you’re scrolling!). This is going to be released on May 22nd!!! So, since it POURED down rain here all day, we watched it tonight! I have to tell you that I LOVED the show The Littles as a child. I also have my students read it EVERY year, so I couldn’t wait to watch the movie!! The story centers around a “little” person named Arriety and her mother and father who live in the floorboards of a human’s house. She is accidentally seen by Shawn, a 12-year-old boy who is sick and living with his aunt and her housekeeper (Carol Burnett). The story centers around their friendship and all the wild escapades they encounter.
My son’s FAVORITE part of the movie is Arrietty’s blades that come out of her shoes to help her grip to the curtains. He literally said, “AWESOME!” LOL In the movie, Shawn is sick with a heart condition, and the whole time we were wondering if he was going to live or not. We’re NOT going to spoil the ending for you, so you’ll have to see it for yourself! Check out the sneak peek below then enter the giveaway via the rafflecopter below!!
The extras include the music video and song “Summertime” Bridgit Mendler, and how the video was made! It’s a cute song, and I really like the fact that Bridgit wrote the song while on the set of another show. Also, it was really cool to see how the video was mostly made with a green screen! It also makes her look like a “little” person in the video! There are also some sneak peeks of other Disney shows as well!!

Synopsis:
Arrietty (voice of Bridgit Mendler), a tiny, but tenacious 14-year-old, lives with her parents (voices of Will Arnett and Amy Poehler) in the recesses of a suburban garden home, unbeknownst to the homeowner and her housekeeper (voice of Carol Burnett). Like all little people, Arrietty (AIR-ee-ett-ee) remains hidden from view, except during occasional covert ventures beyond the floorboards to “borrow” scrap supplies like sugar cubes from her human hosts. But when 12-year-old Shawn (voice of David Henrie), a human boy who comes to stay in the home, discovers his mysterious housemate one evening, a secret friendship blossoms. If discovered, their relationship could drive Arrietty’s family from the home and straight into danger.
