So my family really LOVES cupcakes, but sometimes I get bored of the same old things over and over again. We were eating with some friends the other day so I decided to make cupcakes to share, but I didn’t want them to be some plain old ordinary cupcakes so I made them with a FUN TWIST and decided to make them all kinds of fun, crazy colors! My husband is a big fan of strawberries (you may have heard me mention this before), so I went with a strawberry cupcake mix and strawberry frosting.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED:
- Cupcake Mix (this can be your own personal made at home mix or a box) – Plus what you need to make it
- Frosting
- Food Coloring
- Ziploc bag (or piping bag)
- OPTIONAL:
- Piping Bags
- Piping Tips
- All you have to do is follow the directions on your cupcake mix to get started.
- Then divide your mix into bowls for the number of colors you plan to use (I did four since you can only make pink cupcake mix so many different colors).
- Add your desired color to each bowl and mix
- Spoon the mix into your cupcake pans in whatever order you would like
- Take a knife, fork, or toothpick and swirl the colors around, but be sure not to over mix or you’ll end up with a dull colored mess!
- Then pop them in the oven for the required time
Once you pull them out of the oven you need to let them cool.
- Divide the frosting into bowls for the number of colors you plan to use (I only did three this time because once again my frosting was pink)
- Add your desired color to each bowl and mix
- Spoon the mix into a Piping Bag or Ziploc bag if you don’t have one making sure to try to keep each color to one section of the bag
- For mine I did blue on one side, pink on the other, and purple in the middle.
- Pipe the frosting onto the top of your cupcakes and watch as the swirls of color come out!
HOPE YOU ENJOY!
