You can imagine the excitement we had over going to Legoland in Winterpark, FL. My son is an avid LEGO fan, and we all truly love to play with LEGO’s in our family. This neat amusement park is a one hour drive from Kissimmee, and the directions are very easy from Kissimmee. We visit the Lego Store quite frequently, so I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of how they would create an amusement park around this theme, but I knew it would be amazing!!
There are several reasons why this quickly became a family favorite. First, the park is still relatively new, so it was not packed with people during our visit, and there is ample parking. There were very few lines and the wait time was very short, which allowed us to have more fun during our visit.
One of my favorite parts of Legoland was the mini- city area which features miniature versions of several cities. They featured many cities such as New York City, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, San Francisco, and more! I can’t imagine how long it took to build these models, but I’m sure it was a Lego lover’s paradise! It was so educational as well, which is one of my favorite parts of this park.
The engineering aspects of math and science are both incorporated into Lego building, which make it more than a fun activity! As you can see below, my son and hubby both had tons of fun in the Build and Test Lab! This is where you receive four wheels to build your own Lego vehicle, which you can then test and race. Their vehicle came in first three times! There were also areas of testing where you could build a model, and then set it to vibrate to see if it would collapse, which also tests your engineering skills!
You can also include the Waterpark admission for only $12 more than the regular price. For a family who is not used to Flordia summer heat, this was fantastic, and made the day so much more enjoyable! We were able to splash around in the wave pool, ride on the lazy river, and visit their gigantic water soaker area. We are a big waterpark family, and have been to several parks with this feature, and this is one of the largest, and most fun that we have seen!
Of course, one of the best parts about Legoland is the LEGO shopping! There were several stores on property loaded with great LEGO sets that aren’t always available at your local LEGO store. These stores also had a great selection of clothes, toys, and other items. There were plenty of items for girls too, so this was more than a boy’s park for sure! Comment and let us know if you’ve ever been to Legoland! We want to hear your thoughts on the park as well!!!
