Each year we help our son make a Christmas ornament for his teacher(s). This is one of my favorites, and I’m sharing it here tonight! This is VERY easy to make! You will need:
- Tongue Depressor(s) (These are larger than normal craft sticks)
- White and organge acrylic paint (you can substitute other forms of paint)
- Black construction paper.
- Jewels/Beads for the buttons.
- Small twigs for the arms
- Toothpick
- Hot glue gun or tacky glue
- Twine or yarn (1 yard)
- Black Sharpie Marker
Directions:
1. You will need to break the toothpick in half, and paint it orange.
2. Paint the tongue depressor white.
3. We did not use a pattern for the hat. We just sort of cut out a hat shaped. It looks better when it’s not perfect!
4. Once the paint dries, you are ready to assemble! Begin by gluing the hat on the top, and the twig arms on the side.
5. Once the hat is in place, you can sort of “eyeball” (No pun intended;) the eyeballs. Make them with the black Sharpie marker. Then, glue the orange toothpick on for the nose (it should be standing up).
6. Make a few dots for the mouth.
7. Glue the three beads/jewels down the front as buttons.
8. Attach the twine/yard to the top, so it can hang from the Christmas tree.
9. We put our son’s name on the front with the year for his teacher. You can even paint a smidge of white onto the top to make it look like snow on his hat!
10. Voila, you have a REALLY CUTE teacher’s Christmas gift!!!
