This post was actually written in 2014, but with #Snowzilla2016 here, we thought it would be good to repost it. Our area has over 30 inches of snow. What a great time to make snow ice cream. This is probably one of our most minimalist type recipes ever.
I finally had a chance to make Snow Ice Cream on our snow day today. My son was so excited to make this, so we wanted you to share in the fun too. These are ingredients that most of us have on hand all of the time, and if you top it with a little whipped cream or hot fudge, you are all set.
How to Make Snow Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of milk (any Kind, but whole milk or half & half make it richer)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3-5 drops of food coloring can be added for color
- 4-6 cups of fresh snow
We set out three bowls at the front of our house to collect the snow last night to ensure that we had clean snow, since we have three dogs that go out back! Also, you can freeze it, but I recommend making it as soon as you collect the snow, because when you freeze it, it becomes more like ice.
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients (Remember to add food coloring if you want yours colored).
2. Pour over snow and mix with a wooden/spoon or spatula.
3. Eat!
