Welcome to our 35 Days to an Organized Home Challenge!
I’ve had a school binder for my son since he was in pre-school. However, this year I decided to take it up a notch and create a binder with dividers, and I purchased some neat Avery Insert & Divider Products at Staples to hold his school absentee notes.
Check out our FREE FAMILY BINDER Printables!
Since my son likes to pack some days and buy on others, we usually have the back of the binder facing up for him so he can check the menu each night before we go to bed. I don’t like sudden lunch packing surprises in the morning, so this works really well for our family!
Our PTA and school do a fabulous job of keeping parents updated on necessary school info. As you can see, we get a monthly calendar, which I keep in the very front. This helps me keep track of important dates that I immediately put on our iPad calendar (our family’s main calendar) which also shows up on my iPhone. While the school does send us an updated emergency contact info sheet each year, I’m including an emergency contact form for your binder in addition to the cover!
As you can see, my tabs are as follows:
- Office- This tab includes paperwork that comes from the school office or PTA.
- Reports- This tab includes report cards, reports from school assessments, and all information regarding my son’s academic progress.
- Teacher- This tab consists of all paperwork that comes from our son’s teacher. I keep all her school newsletters and important information that pertains specifically to her classroom in this section.
- Calendar- Our school district sends home a printed calendar with important dates each year for the entire school district. That is where I keep this calendar and past PTA calendars for the year. Find out if your school has a printable calendar or one online that you can insert directly into your binder. However, if they don’t, you can print a FREE Calendar HERE!
Health Records- Our district requires immunizations in various years and forms that must be submitted from the dentist. Our school nurses are also not allowed to give Tylenol or even cough drops without specific papers from the doctor. This is where I keep all the health related forms.
We’re also including this School Info Sheet printable for you to keep track of important phone numbers, web addresses, passwords, and more! Our school district has a website where you can log-in to check attendance, grades, and other important items. It is essential for me to have a place to track this info, because of all the passwords!

Thank you for sharing these! I need to get our school papers more organized. We always have a pile on my desk. Haha. This is a great idea!
