This story is based on young boy named Victor(Charlie Tahan), “who conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.”
My family and I had the privilege to attend a pre-screening of the new Tim Burton movie Frankenweenie in 3D. This movie is very Tim Burtonesque. You will notice the signature darkness of characters and sets. However, this movie is very entertaining and fun. There is humor and wit and an engaging story line to keep you interested in the movie. The cast of characters is delightful! There are also some nods to the old Frankenstein movie and characters which is a fun little addition as well. I will say that there are some pretty intense scenes throughout the movie (read: scary movie for kids), but nothing too bad. I would say that if you have older children then they will enjoy it. My 7-year-old really liked the movie, even though he jumped a couple of times throughout watching it. I think seeing this movie in 3D adds a lot to the whole experience of seeing this movie. At times the movie feels larger than life and really grabs you. In fact, you just might jump out of your seat.
This movie is a very heartwarming film. It might make you cry and it will certainly make you laugh. The overall message of the movie is a very positive one. It exemplifies a true love relationship from the view of a child. It’s quirky and amusing. I also love that this movie is out just in time for Halloween, this could become a classic kid’s Halloween movie!
