What are your favorite memories from Disney’s Aladdin?
We have a great clip to share with you. Here is Brad Kane discussing his experiences recording the memorable songs that we all know and love from Aladdin.
Aladdin has always had a special place in my heart: from the first note in the opening song as we gaze upon Agrabah and the desert (and meet the Narrator/AKA Robin Williams) – to the end and Genie’s freedom flight to Disney. The magic of Disney was completely captured in the characters, story, music, adventure, comedy and wonderment in “one teeny tiny living space”.
Shortly after the movie sensation hit in 1992, my mom surprised me with tickets for Aladdin on Ice. At that time, I was a college student and found that gesture ‘cute’. I figured she was trying to hold onto her ‘Little Stella’ who was growing up.
Slightly embarrassed, I agreed to join her for the performance. Then, an amazing thing happened that I will never forget… the lights switched, the skating rink lit up and I was staring into Agrabah! Skaters were drifting around the busy market place, as the opening music hypnotized me. I was completely mesmerized and lost in the production… They were even successful in commandeering a horrifying 3-story high Jafar Snake! I had never been captivated by a children’s performance before.
The blue Genie, hilarious Abu, quick and smart princess Jasmine, adorable Raja and romantic Aladdin always brings a smile to my face, as my heart and soul continue to sing along (and quote) my favorite Disney movie of all time.
