The last several months have been hard for our family. Like really, really hard. My dad is passing away from terminal prostate cancer. You know how sometimes you are going through a really rough time and just need something fun? A little joy? The Harlem Globetrotters was that experience for our family. They recently came to Hershey, Pennsylvania, and I’ve been on the struggle bus with emotions around my dad, and this was just what our family needed. It was also a wonderful day of making memories with my husband and my boys. If you are looking to make a really cool memory with your kids, this is a wonderful event! Check out their tour schedule to see when they are coming to your area!
When we first got there, the MC did a wonderful job of getting the crowd going along with Globie, their mascot! They did warm up exercises, and then the Globetrotters and their opponents (The Washington Generals) took to the court. After many cool tricks and moves, they started to turn up the heat on the court. The MC had many interactions with the players that were funny and our family had so many good laughs during the game.
Before the show and during half-time, spectators were allowed down on the court to try and shoot baskets and perform other contests. My boys were so excited to get their own autographed Harlem Globetrotters basketball! You have an opportunity after the game to get signatures from all of the players. We took our oldest son many years ago to see the Harlem Globetrotters, and he still has his signed basketball!
This is one experience my boys will remember for the rest of their lives. I really feel like some events like this are so worth it, and I’m so glad they will have this memory. The best part is that the Globetrotters did beat their opponents for a win!
