Last month, we received an incredible 3D building toy, that kids of ALL ages will enjoy.
Introducing: IKOS
Every piece is printed on a 3D printer and formed out of recycled HDPE. The curved feature makes building easier. No sharp edges!
10-year old, Veronica has played with it almost every day – and has been asking for more pieces so she can continue building more creations.
We have enjoyed exploring this twist on the basic building toy.
Where did IKOS come from?
IKOS started with a group of Utah high school students and their mentor, Mike Wong. They were all of Park City CAPS, a program which gives students hands on experience by working with industry outside of the classroom.
They were inspired by a shape pioneered by Peter Roberts, who designed for constructing concrete spheres. Originally, they wanted to demonstrate how spheres can be a solution to water storage and affordable housing. They utilized desktop 3D printing, and designed a spherical building toy for creators of all ages that can be manufactured out of 100% recycled HDPE.
I would recommend this portable and sturdy creative set for Christmas or any birthday gift.
