Jewelry making is one of my FAVORITE ways to make a home made gift. I have made several necklaces and ear rings for family members, and they are NOT expensive to make! We live in a fairly small Pennsylvania town close to Gettysburg, but we still have this AWESOME bead store! They are fairly priced and have a GREAT selection! Seed beads come in many shapes and varieties, and they are usually the main part of whatever piece you are making. There are some great bead selections on Pandahall.com if you don’t have a bead store in your area, and they also give you a $10 coupon at Registration!!!
To begin making jewelry you will need some basic supplies: (This is a VERY basic list)
Needle Nose Pliers
Wire Cutters
Wire
Head Pins
Clasps
Ear Clutches
Jump Rings
Beads!
Once you have your supplies, it’s time to start beading! You will need to thing about what you want to make as a gift. I recommend sticking to Earrings, or something small without a lot of bead work for beginners!
There are some REALLY great tutorials online for jewelry making also to help get you started! I will list them below!
Beginner’s Guide– Needed tools
Beginner’s Video #1 (This looks more like intermediate to me, but you can try it!)
Please comment if you decide to try and make something!!!
