HOW I LOWERED MY GROCERY BLL BY 76%
Shopping Store Sales: Don’t pay full price in a grocery store. Always make sure to shop the sale items when buying groceries. If your store has a rewards program, make sure to sign up and always use your card for the best deals. Sign up for email subscriptions as well to keep in the know about unadvertised sales.
Using Coupons With Sales: For brands you know and love, use coupons and combine the coupon discount with the sale price for ultimate savings. If you can’t find coupons in your weekly newspaper, email or call the brand directly and ask for coupons.
Buy Meat In Bulk: Most people complain that meat prices are the worst to deal with. Buy meat in bulk quantities for lower per pound prices. Watch for great sales, buy in bulk then portion and divide to freeze for future use. Double bag and label well for easy on the go grab, thaw and cook meals.
Avoiding Packaged Foods: Snack cakes, chips, dips, cookies, crackers and meal kits are all often much pricier than if you simply made those items from scratch. Most packaged foods, snacks and meal kits are very simple to create from scratch and much more favorable.
Menu Plan & Cook Freezer Meals: One of the hardest parts of keeping your grocery bill down is not having something ready for when you get home each night. Preparing a menu plan, or prepping freezer meals ahead of time can keep you in budget and help you save. By eliminating those last minute grocery store trips that end up costing more money than you have in budget, you’ll see your overall budget dropping drastically.
Shop Local Farmers Markets: Produce can be found at a fraction of the cost of grocery stores at your local farmers markets. There is the added benefit of knowing you are buying local and often times organic too!
All of these things are so simple to implement into your daily life. Not only are they easy, but they really do make a huge difference in your budget. Getting rid of last minute purchases, taking advantage of sales and local farmers markets, and of course planning ahead will help you create more room in your family budget for other things.
