When you are working to organize your home, you might think that Organizing Cleaning Products isn’t very important. However, this is one thing that can easily get out of control and create added expenses, as well as unnecessary messes you don’t want or need. Our tips will help you stay on top of your stock of cleaning products, as well as have just what you need where you need it.
ORGANIZING CLEANING PRODUCTS
Use Bins Under Each Sink: Inexpensive bins found at your local dollar store are perfect for keeping all bottles and canisters together under your sinks. Not only will it be easier to grab and go to clean, but it will prevent spills from dripping out onto your cabinets. We like the ones with two sides and a handle in the middle for carrying, but you can use any simple storage bin for this.
Keep The Same Thing In All Bathrooms: Instead of running back and forth from one bathroom to the next for tile cleaner, make sure to have duplicates of everything in each room. It is worth the extra bottle of cleaner to keep you from running around and not having what you need on hand when you need it. Glass cleaner, disinfectant spray, bleach solution, soap refills, scouring soap/pads and tile or shower cleaner can be in all bathrooms for quick and easy use. We add in some quick sanitizing wipes for those fast counter wipes as well.
Don’t Keep “Almost Empty” Bottles: If there is just a little left in a container, use it or toss it. While some may find it wasteful, it is even more wasteful to keep dozens of almost empty containers under your sink not being used. If it isn’t something you can easily get out and use, dispose of it properly and move on to the next full bottle in stock.
Keep Harsh Chemicals In Higher or Locked Cabinets: Safety first when children are in your home. Install proper safety locks your kids can’t open, or store your harsh chemical cleaners in higher cabinets they cannot reach.
If It Doesn’t Work Throw It Out: We have all fallen victim to the latest and greatest product promising amazing results with no work involved. If you have purchased a cleanser in the past and not been happy with the results get rid of it. Don’t keep that random bottle under your sink for years for no reason. Ask and see if friends or family will use it, if not use proper safe disposal methods and remove it from your cleaning regimen.
Keep Stock Of Your Stockpile: If you coupon and stockpile cleaning products, keep a handy checklist in a plastic sleeve in your cabinet so you know what you need to add to the shopping list, or what may be in excess in storage.
Organizing cleaning products is one of the easier things you will organize in your home. The biggest points to remember are not saving things just because you “might” use them later. If you aren’t using it now then get rid of it and make room for the products you will use in your home. Always remember to use proper safety when kids are around any cleaning products, and dispose of chemicals in recommended ways to protect everyone in your home.
