Two sisters had a vision. That vision came from a single coin that was given to their Dad.
Meet Kat Calzini and Beth Royle
Our dad, a doctor, received a coin from a patient who had a single coin made just for Dad to show his appreciation for the wonderful care that Dad had given him. Dad loved the coin, but even more, he cherished the sentiment behind it. It carried a simple message, “Thank you for your outstanding service.” We saw how much that coin meant to Dad – he keeps it on his desk to this day. This was our inspiration to make coins that would allow others to experience these same warm feelings.
So we started The Original Health Hero Coin™ company to make coins available for anyone who wants to show support to a family member or friend facing an illness or other health challenge, or say thank you to those who provide such selfless care.
But we want to do more than that. We want our website to be a trusted resource, providing information, encouragement, and inspiration for those dealing with health challenges.
We also intend to do our part to help in the fight against these diseases, and to that end each year we will donate a percentage of our profits to medical research or medical institutions and 10% of all the coins we sell to charity. We strongly believe in the motto that appears on all of our coins, “Together, we will win.”
Giving a Health Hero Coin to someone is a tangible and lasting way to show your love and support whether the recipient is facing a health challenge or caring for someone facing that challenge. The coin and the sentiment behind the coin are always with you.
Who is your hero? There are many heroes in our lives that are never honored. Or maybe it’s someone who doesn’t even know that they are a hero. They could be an adult or a child. Maybe your hero is someone who serves in the military.
This is a wonderful way to show your appreciation!
Let me tell you about my hero. Her name is Joy and she is my sister. Our Mom’s name is Mary and Joy is her “caregiver”. Our Mom is 91 years of age and has dementia. Joy lives a half a block from our Mom and the burden/blessing of caring for our Mom has fallen on her. They live in Ohio. I live in Florida. Our other sister lives in California. Joy “gets” to take Mom to all her doctor’s appointments, shopping, and everything else. Mom may forget a lot of things but she never forgets my sister’s phone number. So the phone calls are numerous, often for the same question, over and over again.
I cannot imagine all that my sister deals with. Her husband passed away last year and she has 2 grandsons that she is raising. I love her so much and I am so grateful for all she does. There is no way words can convey what I feel.
I chose the “Caregiver Coin” to review and I will be sending it to my sister, along with a copy of this post. On the front of the coin are the words: Compassion, Caring, Comfort, Thank You. I pray that when my sister is having a difficult day, she will have this coin to remember that she is loved and appreciated.
Beth has a daughter, Emily, who has a debilitating pediatric autoimmune disorder. Emily designed the “Child Coin” and ironically she was the first recipient of the “Child Coin”. Beth has a blog in which she shares about her family. The link for her blog is at the bottom of The Original Health Hero Coin webpage.
The Original Health Hero Coin is a wonderful concept. The coin is beautiful and well made. You can go to their website to buy one now. They are only $16.00 and shipping is free within the continental United States.
