If you’re looking for a GREAT crabcake recipe for the holidays, we have the perfect one for you! This is a Paula Dean recipe I printed off the internet about a year ago. (Original recipe from FoodNetwork.com). After making these you will NOT need to pay high prices for Butcher Shop quality crab cakes. The total cost for 6 crab cakes from this recipe probably costs about $7 or less! These taste SOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. of crabmeat (we use a pouch of crabmeat we buy from Walmart for about $5.60). It is less than a pound, so we add a little more Ritz Crackers!
- 1/3 C crushed Ritz crackers
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 C finely chopped bell pepper (we don’t like this, so it is not in our cakes!)
- 1/4 C mayo
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard (dry or regular)
- 1/2 lemon, juiced (we add about 1 Tbs. of the squeeze juice from the fake lemon;)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- Dash of cayenne pepper
- Flour, for dusting (we skip this part)
- 1/2 C peanut oil (we use vegetable oil)
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients, except for flour and peanut oil. Shape into patties and dust with flour. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When oil is hot, carefully place crab cakes, in batches, in pan and fry until browned (4-5 minutes). Carefully flip crab cakes and fry on other side until golden brown, about 4 minutes. Serve with dipping sauce of your choice.
(My adapted version from www.foodnetwork.com). If you make these, you MUST comment on how good they taste!!! LOL
