Places To Get Free Clothing For Your Entire Family
ThredUp & Schoola: Both of these sites are great for getting free clothing. We personally use ThredUp and Schoola. Not only do they routinely send out coupons toward your purchases, all you have to do to snag totally free clothing is send in some of your kids clothing that is in gently used condition to earn credit. It’s super easy to wash, fold and add quality name brand items to a bag they send to you and add the free shipping label to it and send. A few weeks later you’l find credit in your account that will turn around and pay for your kids clothing in no time. This is another great side hustle that can help you get out of debt in no time.
Freecycle: The old Yahoo group Freecycle is still alive and active. Not only are their Yahoo email groups for your local community, there are now many versions on Facebook and other social media. Check out your local Freecycle groups to find totally free clothing for everyone. All you have to do is pick it up a designated location. Check out our Freecycle Mantle Makeover for only $12.
Neighborhood Swaps: For kids, many neighbors will come together and swap out kids clothing with each other. Each family will have various sizes other families need, and it often works great to set up what looks like a community yard sale but is really a shopping event for just the neighborhood.
Craigslist: Did you know there is a free section on Craigslist? If not, go check it out now and see what great items are available in your area. Clothing is often bundled in large groups of random items to be picked up, but you can often find great pieces for nothing at all. Just make sure you plan to meet the person giving it away at a public location for safety.
Hand me downs. From friends and family, hand me down items can often be a great choice not just for your kids, but also adults and teens. When adults lose weight, gain weight or just no longer need specific types of clothing (business mom turns stay at home mom may not need her business suits any longer) they often are happy to hand them down to those who can use them. Don’t be afraid to take free hand me downs from those who offer them.
These places to get free clothing for the entire family are great to keep in mind when you are trying to stick to your plan to get out of debt. You can also save a ton of money by becoming a minimalist within your closet, or simply using some of our great ways to slash your clothing budget.
