Some of the best times to sing songs and chants with my son is while we are changing his diaper. He loves to sing and chant rhymes, and we have so much fun during this time. The best part is that it’s wonderful for his language development. As a child I loved to sing and listen to nursery rhymes and chants with my mom and in school. We love Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra diapers, and diapering time can have a huge impact on your child’s educational development.
We love Huggies Snug & Dry Ultra diapers because of the quilted liner that locks away wetness, and right now you can print this coupon for $2.00 off any one pack of Huggies at Walmart. All you have to do is click and print! Huggies Snug and Dry Ultra are available exclusively at Walmart for a great low price! They have a Leak Lock System that goes where a baby goes, and can provide up to 12 hours of protection that helps prevent leaks. Also, when he was in sizes 1 and 2 they had a wetness indicator that turned blue, so we knew it was time for a diaper change.
The diaper area of our Walmart is in the baby section, up against the back wall. These were the fabulous price of $7.97, and with the $2.00 off coupon, it made them only $5.97! That is a wonderful price, and I am totally stocking up right now.
One of our favorite chants I learned from my best friend Mandy when her three children were younger. Take your fingers and start at their belly and working your way up until you tickle them under the chin. The chant goes as follows, “I’m a little mouse-y, looking for a house-y, house-y, house-y.” We’ve included a video below to show you how to recite this chant.
Another favorite chant was taught to us by my mom’s best friend, who is part of our family. As you recite the chant, you will tap different part of your child’s head/face.
Head Bumper
Head bumper (tap top of head)
Eye winker (tap left temple),
Tom tinker (tap right temple),
Nose smeller (tap nose),
Chin chopper (tap chin),
Giddy, Giddy, Giddy, Giddy, Giddy, Giddy (tickle under the chin)
I love to do this next chant when we are diapering after bath and he isn’t wearing a shirt. My mother-in-law taught us this chant. I love to really turn my finger in a circle so he anticipates that I’m going to “dig a hole” and tickle him in his belly.
Gonna Dig a Hole
Gonna dig a hole, and I don’t know where.
Gonna dig a hole and put it right there!
There are so many amazing songs for children that involve hand motions, songs, and rhyming words. These are so good for language development in small children, and this helps with early reading skills as well. What a wonderful way to make a common everyday occurrence become fun and educational. I love being a Huggies mom.
Check out our video below for some of our favorites.
