Staying organized can really save money for the average family in many ways. These are just some tips and tricks on how you can save some CASH by staying organized!
1. Make a yard sale pile, and cash in your unused items for some money! Think of the value of all the unused items in your household. That’s how much money you could make!
2. Pay your bills on time- Late fees will drain you of extra cash that you could be pocketing. Instead of paying $35 for a late credit card bill, put that money into a 401K through work, and your retirement fund could grow faster than you think!
***In conjunction with this idea, organize your bills, and you will know where the bills are so you can pay them!
3. Cook what you have. Go through your closets and clean out all the unused food, and then go to a website like allrecipes.com and search for recipes that use those items! You’d be amazed at how many meals are hiding in your cupboards!
4. Staying organized eliminates unnecessary purchases! If you know where things are and can find them quickly, this eliminates buying items you don’t really need.
5. Wash/dry/iron/hang-up ALL your clothes before you go clothes shopping. Make a list of outfits you already have, donate/sell clothes you don’t need, and you will buy less duplicates or items that don’t go with clothes you already have.
6. File receipts. Purchase a small hanging file folder, and label the various folders as: grocery, clothes, electronics, etc. Slip away receipts so you can go back and find them. SO MUCH money is wasted on items that are NOT returned! One time a family member told me I could have the money from all their returnable items. I walked away with over $80 in my pocket!
7. Make a list of five organizational areas where you need help. Set a goal and start implementing steps to help you achieve them. Take small steps if you have to, and over the course of a few weeks, you WILL notice a difference!
8. Take a before and after picture. This will help keep you MOTIVATED to keep organizing!
