So, I’ve always been intrigued by mother-in-law’s ability to NOT use Paper Towels. While she didn’t completely convert her kids to a no-paper towel lifestyle, I have to admit, I’m addicted. I use paper towels ALL the time. In fact, I’d be embarrassed to show you my Paper Towel stockpile, because I’m always afraid of running out. (I’m the same way with TP ;). I know that it would be cheaper AND better for the environment if I made the switch, but I’m going to need an intervention. So, if you do NOT use paper towels, let us know your secrets! Do you keep rags on hand? What do you use instead? Just curious!

We don’t paper towel. We haven’t for over 2 years, and it’s the best decision ever. My kids love it and it’s really good for the earth and saves us money!!!
Cristina
I use them. It saves me a LOT of laundry. I don’t use them excessively, but there are things that spill or need cleaning up that I don’t want in my washing machine.

I never used to buy them, my boyfriend HAS to have them. Bounty no less, and that didn’t work for me, so, I tried proving him wrong, I couldn’t. They are better, and more sanitary.
Unless you use a fresh cloth everytime you wipe something up, or dry your dishes etc. you are spreading bacteria. Washing 20 cloths every day is a waste of water, another natural resource.
Tina
I use them, I just don’t have the time to wash cloths all the time. I do tend to reuse my paper towels though, like if I am just drying my hands after washing them or if it was to just wipe water off the counter and is still clean I will set the towel aside and use it when it dries.

I am a combination of Christina and Tina. I use both paper towels and small dish towel. So if I wash my hands with soap, then I have a dish towel that I always use and these are always printed with something, flowers or some other pattern. It is washed on a daily basis or more if needed. Then I have a second dish towel that I use just to wipe dishes, this one is always solid color, no matter what.color it is. Just helps when I have someone in my kitchen. My mom also does this so we work very well in each others kitchens. Mostly my dishes drip dry and air dry, but if needed I have one for that. I use a cloth to mop up excess water on the counters only. I also wipe counters with this when dirty. But I try to use paper towels and vinegar coz it is more hygenic. So that is what paper towels are used for mostly wiping counters and little faces, etc.
