The first thing you want to do when you decide to create your own perfume with essential oils is to choose 3 scents that you love and work well together. Perfumes are generally made from a combination of top, middle, and base notes to create a more complex layered scent. I have included some suggestions for you but you can create your own unique custom scent by experimenting with your favorite essential oils.
Young Living essential oils are the only ones I use because of their strict Seed to Seal standard. I have personally been to their farms, and to their distribution center in Utah, so I will only recommend their oils. You can get your own Young Living oils and take part in our $25 cash back offer to you.
Ingredients:
- 4 tsp. Witch Hazel
- ½ tsp. Vegetable Glycerin
- ½ tsp. Aloe Vera Gel
- Rosewater
- Distilled Water
- 3 Young Living essential oils
You will also need:
- A small funnel
- Perfume spray bottle
Directions:
- Fill your 30ml perfume bottle halfway with distilled water.
- Add rosewater, aloe vera gel, and witch hazel.
- Carefully drop in your 3 essential oils using
- 5 drops of your top note
- 20 drops of your chosen middle note
- 5 drops of a base note.
- These are the amounts I would begin with if it is too strong I would use less on the next bottle, if after a few uses you find that it is not strong enough then you can reopen and add a few more of each layer until you get the scent the way you want it.
- Replace the spray nozzle and shake well, you will want to shake before each use as well to get an even scent profile.
- Remove spray nozzle again and fill the bottle the rest of the way with filtered water, leave a little space at the top so you can shake it well before each use.
- Replace nozzle and enjoy your own custom scent!
Some of my favorite combinations are :
- Orange, Jasmine, and Frankincense
- Peppermint, Rosemary, and Sandalwood
- Grapefruit, Ginger, Vetiver
- Rose, Lime, Vetiver
- Sandalwood, Jasmine, Lavender
- Jasmine, Orange, Neroli, Bergamot, and Ylang Ylang
